Back in 1993, our Director Emma struggled to find a store that could offer her advice and a range of products for her new baby. From a retailing family, Emma had been brought up working in her parent’s fashion stores. At the time Emma’s mother Roma had established Lady Birds, an independent ladies fashion boutique. They decided to expand the store by opening a nursery goods department, originally in a very small store in the centre of Dorchester. Aptly named Lady Birds and Baby Birds, the businesses later split to occupy two premises, and Baby Birds has expanded through eight different premises throughout Dorset, to today’s location in Weymouth.

In 2016, Emma’s daughter Molly joined the business to aid the expansion of Baby Birds and setup of our sister company, Roma. In 2019, we welcomed the latest generation “Baby Bird”, Molly’s daughter Valerie, marking four generations of Baby Birds. Our team are very much part of one big family.
