A Birthday Speech
Today marks Baby Birds’ actual Birthday and we’re turning 30! Where have the years gone? As google has told us “30 marks the end of youth” so it’s official…we’re old!
Back in 1993, our director Emma struggled to find a store that could offer her advice and a range of products for her new baby. From a retailing family, Emma had been brought up working in her parent’s fashion stores. At the time Emma’s mother Roma had established Lady Birds, an independent ladies fashion boutique. They decided to expand the store by opening a nursery goods department, originally in a very small store in the centre of Dorchester, and so Baby Birds was born. We pride ourselves on our customer service, and knowledge, as parents ourselves we’re happy to just help new parents on such an incredible journey by giving advice and help any time we can.
We want to say a massive thank you to all of our customers over the years, you are the reason we’ve been able to reach this milestone. We are so proud of this achievement and we hope we can continue to help lots more families with what can be the most joyous yet confusing and scary times of people’s lives.
To celebrate this milestone, we will be celebrating with a Baby Birds party on Saturday 4th February at our shop floor in Chickerell, Weymouth. We are hosting a raffle where we are giving away over £2000 worth of prizes, including prams, strollers, baby carriers, monitors and more. All proceeds to this raffle will be going directly to our local Special Care Baby Unit in Dorchester, they really do amazing work for poorly babies. You can purchase a ticket to this raffle here.
