The Baby Birds SAFE Organic Pram and Crib Mattress are our very own chemical free range of baby pram carry cot mattresses. They have a removable cover which is machine washable. It is well documented that chemicals used in foam mattresses can cause irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and skin. So Baby Birds have produced their own range of chemical free baby mattresses.

It is well documented that chemicals used in foam mattresses can cause irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and skin. So Baby Birds have produced their own range of chemical free baby mattresses.
Why do I need a new mattress? At Baby Birds we recommend new baby, new mattress’ there has been many researches on babies and their sleeping environment.
The Lullaby Trust is a British charitable organisation aiming to prevent unexpected deaths in infancy and promote infant health.
Here is a list of some of their recommendations;
- The safest place for a baby to sleep is in their own cot, moses basket or crib in the same room as you.
- Always ensure the mattress is firm, clean and dry. A waterproof cover is useful but not essential.
- Ensure your babies mattress fits the area snuggly, with no large gaps at any side.
- Avoid using soft or excessing bedding. Such as heavy quilts. This may cause your baby to overheat.
- Remove toys when baby is sleeping
- Position your baby at the foot end of the crib so baby’s feet are at the bottom of the sleeping area. That way your baby cannot slip under the covers.
