Baby Birds Pram Mattress
The Baby Birds pram mattress is designed to fit the carrycot of your pram. The mattress is a high density, padded, foam mattress for your pram. Although a mattress is included with a new pram, this is a high quality replacement. It is ideal for a 2nd baby, a spare in case of accidents or if you prefer your baby to enjoy a thicker mattress than the one that is supplied. Made of high quality foam that has passed all British Standards and covered with a removable cosy quilt cover. Fitted sheets also available separately.
Upgrade your mattress to the organic chemical-free version for an extra £5. The Baby Birds SAFE mattress is made of high quality, safe, naturally fire-retardant materials. The cover is hypoallergenic, organic and padded with a luxury, removable cover.
Why do I need a new mattress? At Baby Birds we recommend new baby, new mattress’ there has been many researches on babies and their sleeping environment.
The Lullaby Trust is a British charitable organisation aiming to prevent unexpected deaths in infancy and promote infant health.
Here is a list of some of their recommendations;
- The safest place for a baby to sleep is in their own cot, moses basket or crib in the same room as you.
- Always ensure the mattress is firm, clean and dry. A waterproof cover is useful but not essential.
- Ensure your babies mattress fits the area snuggly, with no large gaps at any side.
- Avoid using soft or excessing bedding. Such as heavy quilts. This may cause your baby to overheat.
- Remove toys when baby is sleeping
- Position your baby at the foot end of the crib so baby’s feet are at the bottom of the sleeping area. That way your baby cannot slip under the covers.
