A Birthday Treat
How special are Birthdays?
Friends and family around you, loads of presents, and more importantly infinite amounts of cake that seems to last all the way until your next birthday (or not last long at all in my case.)
Birthdays are SO special. This is why when we heard about Emma’s birthday, we wanted to make sure we play our part in making it extra special for him and his family.
We put some money together to get Emma some gifts for his Birthday, which is also coincides with Christmas day! Below you can see the impact this made, making him feel extra special on his big day.
But what do you get for someone you’ve never met, and lives on the other side of the world?
Education and schooling is so important in Uganda, and is not something that is as easily accessible compared to schooling in the UK or around the world.
Uganda, like many sub-Saharan African countries, faces major challenges in providing quality and accessible basic education to children and adolescents. Only 1 in 4 children who starts primary school makes it to secondary school.
We want to make sure Emma has the best schooling and best opportunities possible. So with this in mind we sent him, some books, and stationary to help with his schooling, along with a snowglobe and some whistles for him and his friends.
Giving these items for his Birthday will mean that he is able to enjoy a birthday that you or I would normally have, able to open presents, get that giddy feeling of joy inside, and more importantly make memories for himself with family and friends that he will have for years to come. Happy Birthday Emma!
